Ephesus
“To the angel of the church in Ephesus write:
These are the words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand and walks among the seven golden lamp stands:
I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked men, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false.
You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary.
Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love.
Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lamp stand from its place.”
Revelations 2:1-5
Here we have John writing a revelation directly from Christ.
The church mentioned is Ephesus,
According to Christ they have persevered and endured hardship and not grown weary.
It also cannot tolerate wicked men. That they have tested,
“those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false.”
Even with such a testimony however it is pointed out that they lost their first love.
Our first love should always be Christ. But we see in the world today certain churches and ministers going off the rails.
Case in point you hear of people who call themselves Christian, who concentrate on the evils of the world.
They are very quick to point out what is wrong with the world. It is at times to the point were no once can see the love of Christ in their lives.
I look at some high profile Christian evangelist in the media that target their tongue at homosexuals centering them out as if they had a special sin.
I see other pastors and ministries preaching against the wrongs our political leaders are doing.
Without knowing it I believe such people have moved away from their first love.
The people that really need to see the love of Jesus are not seeing the love of Jesus come from the mouths of such people.
Such people need to return to their first love and proclaim the love mercy and eternal life that can only come from Jesus.
We as individuals need to read about the seven churches mentioned in Revelations. We need to examine our lives and see if we can make improvements in it.
Think about it.
