Warning to Oppressors

“Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming upon you. Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days. Look! The wages you failed to pay the workmen who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter. You have condemned and murdered innocent men, who were not opposing you.”James 5:1-6

When I read this I think of my father who was a union activist all his life. All his life he worked with the union to get better wages and benefits for the average working man.
Around the world today there are may who oppress the worker. Companies that move work from one area of the world to another in the name of the bottom line. Companies that employ children in sweat shops. Companies who take advantage of the circumstances in various areas of the world to pay less than adequate wages and benefits as well as providing less than safe working environments for those they employ.
Those who are in control of these companies are given a warning here. They may escape the judgment of man but they will not escape the judgment of God.
