"Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective." James 5:13-16
Pray, Pray, Pray. “The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective” I have seen the power of prayer.
I know the power of prayer. My son was hit by a car doing eighty kilometers an hour when he was ten years old. He should have had lasting brain damage said the doctors. He was in a coma for a week . Doctors told us the longer he was in the coma the worse the prognosis.
Thanks to our family being all over Canada at the time our son was being prayed for from one end of the country to another. He awoke from his coma and after some physiotherapy he was made whole. Today at thirty no one knows he had such a bad accident. Such is the power of prayer.
We all as Christians need to be in constant prayer and doubly so if something tragic happens.
There is also one other thing James tucks into this portion of scripture, “Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise.”
All too many people forget to praise God for all He has done for us. When we are happy we should be praising God thanking Him for all His gifts to us.
