Praise Him
The Psalmist writes,

Praise the LORD. 

Praise God in his sanctuary; 

praise him in his mighty heavens. 

Praise him for his acts of power; 

praise him for his surpassing greatness. 

Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,

 praise him with the harp and lyre, 

praise him with tambourine and dancing,

 praise him with the strings and flute, 

praise him with the clash of cymbals, 

praise him with resounding cymbals. 

Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. 

Praise the LORD.

In my early days as a believer in Christ Jesus I was part of a praise group. We weren’t very well known but we were good. Good enough to be invited to various churches and other Christian events.
Our repertoire included all of what was in Psalm 150, including dance. At the time in the mid seventies dance in some churches was taboo. Still once people seen what we did they liked it. They seen that our dance moves complimented the music and brought glory to God.
We encouraged people to not only praise God with their voice and with their instruments but with dance. You don’t need anything choreographed just let your spirit flow with the music.
From a purely practical prospective dance can’t hurt. It gives one exercise. Adding praise to God helps your spirit rise.
Praise to God with our without dance can take an ordinary day or even a bad day and make things feel better.
Why not try it. Put on some praise music and in the comfort of your own home praise God.

The Psalmist writes,

Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. 

Worship the LORD with gladness; 

come before him with joyful songs. 

Know that the LORD is God. 

It is he who made us, and we are his; 

we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. 

Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; 

give thanks to him and praise his name. 

For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; 

his faithfulness continues through all generations.

You know there are times when I just like sitting back in a chair and praising God. In years long gone I use to be with a gospel group. In that group I learned to dance. And there are times now that I just like to praise God with dance. Why? Because it make me feel good.
And it allows me to express my love of my God and my Saviour Jesus Christ.
If you claim to be a Christian a believer in God and the Saving Grace that comes through Christ Jesus to do you take time to praise God?

Do you praise the Lord? In my youth I was part of a gospel group. We weren’t well known but we were good. We traveled around our province presenting the gospel message through the use of drama, music and dance.
We found that some more conservative churches found our contemporary style and in particular our dance routines not in keeping with how they felt one should praise the Lord. Something we respected.
 Psalm 150 however states,

“Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,

 praise him with the harp and lyre, 

praise him with tambourine and dancing, 

praise him with the strings and flute, 

praise him with the clash of cymbals, 

praise him with resounding cymbals.”

                                                    Psalm 150:3-5.

Back then as now, when well meaning Christians tell me we should be praising the Lord using the hymn book. When they do  I ask them the question, “what hymns do you sing? Do you sing Amazing Grace?” inevitably they say yes. To which I inform them that in it’s day Amazing Grace and indeed all the songs in the traditional hymn book were contemporary.
That one day the contemporary praise music we play today will more than likely be considered traditional.
My point being, it doesn’t matter how you praise the Lord be it with traditional music, contemporary music, with dance, drama, the spoken word or with instruments.
The important thing is to praise God from your heart.

How do you praise the Lord? Do you praise the Lord?
When your at home do you praise God? By praising the Lord I don’t mean throwing on praise music and listening to it. I mean actually singing to the Lord and not only singing but if you know how to play an instrument praise God with it. Even dance to the Lord.
I know dancing in some churches is frowned on but the Psalmist here clearly says, “praise him with tambourine and dancing,...”
Even in your private time have you ever considered praising God in the dance. You may not be a good dancer or singer but God understands and the scriptures tell us to praise God in the dance. So we should.
We don’t have to do it all the time but we should strive to praise God in any way we are comfortable with.
We need to set fifteen or twenty minutes a day aside to praise God.
Christians set aside time to read a devotional or inspirational message about God but we quite often forget to praise God.
In the book of acts we are told that Paul and Silas while in jail after a beating were praying and singing hymns to God.
I believe we as Christians don’t praise God enough. We don’t take time to just sit back and praise him.
We live quite often in a very busy world. Our lives are full of ‘things’. As a result we quite often to take time just to come before God and simply praise and than Him.
Why not take a few minutes now to praise God.
If you don’t have music simply read the psalms starting at psalm 145 and on to 150 these are psalms of praise.
Make them your own and give glory to the God of heaven and earth.
