How rich are you?

How rich are you?
The gospel of Luke records this Parable of Jesus.
“Someone in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.”
Jesus replied, “Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you?”
Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”
And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man produced a good crop.
He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’
“Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.
And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.” ’
“But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’
“This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God.” Luke 12:13-21.
My brother and I are different. Principle in the differences between us is, I’m a Christian, while he’s an atheist.
He likes to say “life is short and he who has all the toys at the end wins.” A statement that couldn’t be more wrong.
When we die all that we’ve accumulated in this life will mean nothing. It will be dispersed between our family, friends and perhaps even the government. Within a century the average person will just be a name in the family tree. Our accomplishments for the most part forgotten.
There is a saying my first pastors wife like to quote it said,
“We have but one life.
It will soon be past.
Only what’s done for Christ will last”.
This is true.
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.
But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-21.
There are two things a rich man and a poor man have in common. One is they will one day die. The other is both have a choice where they will spend eternity.
As a Christian. A believer in Christ Jesus. I believe that you can know now where you will spend eternity. The Apostle Paul telling us.
“That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
As the Scripture says, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.”
For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him,  for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved
Romans 10:9-13.
Please think about it.
