Christian Lifestyle

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.
You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.
Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.
In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven
               Matthew 5:13-16.
We as Christians have a great responsibility before God and to man. We are the chosen vessels that take the good news of Christ’s redemptive work to all mankind.
We must not hide what we believe. We must let our faith shine in every aspect of our life. People should know we are Christians by the way we live without us saying one word.
As Francis of Assisi said,
“Preach the Gospel at all times and when necessary use words.”
                                                                                     Francis of Assisi
We are responsible for presenting God’s love to each and every person who will listen to us. It is not our job to judge the world. It is our job to show God’s love to each and every  individual we come in contact with. It is only in doing this that we will win souls for Christ.
There is a prayer of written by Francis of Assisi that I think all Christians everywhere need to consider every once in a while it states,
“Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love,
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved, as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.”
                                                                                   Francis of Assisi.
While Francis of Assisi’s words are not from the scriptures they truly reflect what the Christian life should be. We should be reflecting the Love of God in all our dealings in this life.
We need to remember that our actions at any given time might point people to Christ or turn them away.
To quote Francis of Assisi one more time,
“The deeds you do may be the only sermon some persons will hear today”
                                                                                                         Francis of Assisi.
Please think about it.
